The Taikusai (sports festival) is a major event in all Japanese schools. My school had its sports festival this past week, and I can attest to the fact that it is a major event. We took big chunks out of the school week to practice for the festival, not the actual sport part, mainly just the loads of marching that we do. The actual festival was quite a lot of fun, mostly just a day to hang out. It mostly consisted of running events, none of which any of my groups did good in, all the things I ran were relays. It was a lot of fun, a lot of parents come, and kids from other schools. The craziest thing we do is SSR, which only for guys, seeing as it requires no shirt. It`s almost impossible to explain this SSR thing, all I can say really is it is insane. It is marching, yelling, and running all mixed into for a truly embarrassing experience. I was in the front of the pack with my pasty white farmer`s tan, and as usual about a thousand pictures were taken of me. the cool part about this festival is the hanging out, like I said. I couldn`t find my family at lunch, so a group of girls noticed my distress and offered me to eat lunch with them, I think we should all know my answer to the question. Later on I found my family, so I got another lunch, who could ask for more. I was pretty tired at the end of the sports festival, so I decided to remedy that by enjoying a night of revelry in Kumamoto City with some pretty ladies.... yea you heard it right. Japan isn`t exactly party central, but I take what I can get.
