Here`s a typical weekday for me, although I must warn you, it`s not exciting.
6:30- Wake up and shower (all the Japanese shower at night, which would explain their bad hair)
7:00- My host mom actually cooks a real breakfast, so I look forward to that. Eggs, bacon, and a lot of bread
8:15- Unfortunately, I said bye-bye to my car in America, so I use a bike in Japan. The Japanese are horrible drivers, but they are even worse on the sidewalks, and of course I am heading into traffic every morning, instead of going with it. Whoever picked my school didn`t figure all the logistics quite right.
8:30- This is when homeroom starts, and the start of another boring school day. You thought school in America was boring. You see the same kids all day, because you don`t change classes. Also, being a foreigner, I don`t understand the language or the writing, so you can imagine how easy it is just to doze off. I also spend a lot of time in the library studying Japanese, so there is some point to me actually being at school.
3:30- This is when school ends for me, so I go get a snack from the cafeteria. Most kids still have classes until 4:30, so I go and sit in the Basketball club room with the kids who don`t have classes. We pass the time by watching the dance team... Which are girls by the way
4:30- The highlight of my day, basketball practice. I never thought a sports practice would ever be the highlight of my day, but after school it is good fun.... but after four hours I am ready to go back home.
8:00- Another reason I want my car back, the bike ride home. Mostly uphill, and after basketball practice, all I want is food. good news, dinner is always waiting for me when I get home. It is from the nearby restaurant which my host dad owns, called Tsuiji Mura. It means Tsuiji`s (host dad`s name) village. Very good food, and surprisingly cheap for Japan.
9:00- Reading time for a couple of hours, this is why I go through books so fast. I am too tired to do anything else, so I just go to my room and read.
12:00- Bed Time
Don`t think the weekdays are ever different, but that gives me all the more reason to look forward to the weekends
